Sometimes, silence isn’t just quiet—it’s the start of disconnection.

At work, communication isn’t just about meetings, briefs, or Slack messages. It’s also about respect, tone, and the little things we say (or don’t say) that shape our relationships.

Recently, I experienced a moment that made me reflect on how fragile professional friendships can be. A colleague referred to me in a way that felt inappropriate. To her, it might have been a joke—but to me, it was a line crossed. And instead of addressing it directly, I let the distance grow.

It made me realize how often we avoid difficult conversations in the name of keeping peace, when in reality, we’re just closing off channels of connection.

We don’t always need big gestures to maintain healthy work relationships—sometimes, a bit of awareness, empathy, and honest communication can go a long way.

Let’s remember that work culture isn’t just built by policies—it’s built in everyday interactions.
